NSW Food Regulation 2025
Part 6: meat food safety scheme (sections 68 to 111, Schedules 4 to 6) – NSW Food Regulation 2025

NSW Food Regulation 2025 94-96: Game meat primary processing plants release game meat only once branded on site by or under a meat safety inspector, with the game brand at the prescribed positions, or official export marks for export product

What does 94-96 require?

The licence holder of a game meat primary processing plant ensures no game meat leaves until its carcase or part has been branded at the plant with the Schedule 6 brand by or under the meat safety inspector (animal food meat, condemned meat and birds aside). The inspector brands deer and goats on each quarter, pigs on each shoulder, middle and hind leg both sides, rabbits along the midline of the chump and kangaroos on the rump each side; broken carcases on each piece or the carton; brands legible and reasonably permanent or placed as the inspector sees fit. Export kill under Commonwealth rules carries the official mark, and meat condemned for both uses is handled to AS 4464-2007 before it leaves.
