A knackery, where animals are slaughtered or destroyed for animal food or by-products used in it, must comply with the Standard for the Hygienic Production of Pet Meat (PISC Technical Report 88, amended 2009, published by CSIRO), clauses 4.1 to 4.3 excepted. A rendering plant (other than at an abattoir or knackery) must comply with AS 5008-2007, Hygienic rendering of animal products.
