NSW Food Regulation 2025 76: Run meat processing plants to AS 4696:2023, and to AS 4465, AS 4466, AS 5010 or AS 4467 for poultry, rabbit, ratite or crocodile meat

What does 76 require?

A meat processing plant (boning rooms, smallgoods and further processors other than abattoirs, game plants and retail) must comply with AS 4696:2023 for red meat and with the matching species standard for poultry (AS 4465-2006), rabbit (AS 4466-1998), ratite (AS 5010-2001) and crocodile meat (AS 4467-1998), combining them where several species are handled.

100-102 Hold issued meat brands in a locked place accessible only to the licensee and inspector, report a lost or stolen brand immediately and hand back the rest, and return brands and equipment within 7 days of the licence ending
103-104 Do not make, possess or apply any brand or mark resembling a prescribed meat brand without authority under the regulation or Food Authority approval

72 Poultry primary producers notify under Standard 3.2.2 clause 4 and comply with Standard 4.1.1 and Standard 4.2.2 clauses 1 to 10
74 Slaughter for people only abattoir or game animals, process for people only abattoir or game meat, and make processed meat only from inspector-passed meat
