NHS England HTM 06-01 Electrical Services Supply and Distribution (2017 Edition) 14.49-14.81: Cable sizing, fault calculation for primary and secondary supplies, and identification

Conductors should be sized for their design load after derating, be of an approved independently tested type, and keep volt drop within BS 7671. Cables should be checked for all normal and fault conditions, including overload and short circuit, and be suitable for supply from the PES and any secondary supply; parallel CHP should be modelled at different contribution levels, using software under a quality system. Phases should be marked and checked end to end, with colours per BS 7671. Fire alarm cables should be of enhanced or standard fire resistance as BS 5839-1 requires.
