Chapter 7: contamination audits (recycling and incineration streams), density audits (streams without weights) and composition audits (mixed streams, needed for the Material Recovery Score) are performed on bins as presented, on a normal operating day in the rating period or 120 days after, with only essential people told of the date; offices may not audit within two weeks of financial year end, in public or school holidays, in January or in the last two weeks of December. An accredited assessor must be present for at least one contamination and density audit and one composition audit, and the lodging assessor checks every other audit. Samples above 25 bins follow n = N / (1 + N x 0.01), minimum 25. Procedures record tare, gross weight, contaminant weight, bin count and photos; compactors are audited before loading.
