NABERS - National Australian Built Environment Rating System WST-5: Include every core waste stream and only eligible optional streams

What does WST-5 require?

Chapter 5 with Waste for Offices 5.1 to 5.3: ratings cover operational waste measured as it leaves the building. Core streams (general waste, dry general waste, mixed and CDS recycling, paper and cardboard variants, organics, glass and CDS streams) must be configured and carry 12 months of data if collected; optional streams (such as secure paper, soft plastics, e-waste, batteries, coffee pods under a take-back scheme, food donation from operations, heat-treated pallets) count when configured with data. Base building ratings include only streams the owner or manager controls with bins available to tenants; whole building ratings may add reliably measured tenant streams. Offices exclude construction and fitout waste, philanthropic drives, retail and other non-office waste where separable, clinical or hazardous waste and grease trap waste.
