Chapter II Section 3: Mail order sales (including online sales) – Japan Act on Specified Commercial Transactions (ASCT) - Digital Services

Japan Act on Specified Commercial Transactions (Act No. 57 of 1976) Art.12-6(2): Art. 12-6(2) Final confirmation screen: no misleading display

On the form or screen of a specified application the seller must not display anything that misleads the customer about whether sending the form or clicking constitutes an order (for example a button labelled as if it merely moved to the next step), or about the quantity, price, payment, delivery, application period or cancellation items; breach is punishable by a fine of up to JPY 1 million (Article 72) and entitles the customer to rescind. Not letting the customer easily check and correct the order content before submitting an electronic contract grounds instructions (Regulation Article 42(1)).
