The SRS defines every input into and output from the software system, complementing rather than repeating the interface descriptions of 9.6.4.1 to 9.6.4.5; each interface definition gives the item name, what it is for, where an input comes from or an output goes, valid range, accuracy or tolerance, units, timing, links to other inputs and outputs, data and command formats, and the data items each input or output carries.
