ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148:2018 - Systems and Software Engineering - Requirements Engineering 9.5.10: 9.5.10 SyRS content: modes and states, physical characteristics, environmental conditions

The SyRS defines the operational modes and states the system can exist in, with diagrams where useful, and the requirements for them (9.5.10); physical requirements such as weight, volume and dimension constraints, construction characteristics of the installation site, materials, nameplates and markings, interchangeability and workmanship, and adaptability requirements for later growth, expansion, added capability or reduction (9.5.11); and the environmental conditions the system will meet: natural conditions (weather, temperature and humidity, plants, animals and fungal growth, sand, salt spray and dust, radiation, chemicals and airborne contaminants, immersion), induced and self-induced (motion, shock, noise, electromagnetic, thermal), the electromagnetic signal environment, threat and cooperative environments, and also the legal, regulatory, political, economic, social and commercial setting (9.5.12).
