Clause 9: Phase 4, Deliver value – ISO 37500:2014

ISO 37500:2014 9.12: Continuation or end of agreement preparation

What does 9.12 require?

Put both parties in a position to decide, on good information, whether to continue, and are prepared for the relationship's end, maintaining an exit strategy that minimises disruption; both have embedded assets in the relationship, from skills to hard assets, and the process is often underestimated. A joint process should identify the criteria for the continuation decision; maintain an up-to-date, comprehensible, tested and reviewed exit plan including intellectual property rights and process knowledge critical to continuity; and validate the business case assurance results and make recommendations on continuation, considered in sequence through strategy definition (6.5, whether the arrangement still meets strategic requirements), the evaluation and decision step (6.7, business case achievements) and the governance for phases 1 and 4 (5.5.4.2, 5.5.4.5), where the governance body concludes and decides or advises. Success factors: clear fact-based criteria and procedures, a relevant and complete exit plan. Outputs: the current continuation and exit plan, recommendations, the validated business case, the outsourcing evaluation document.
