The governing body should show effective leadership in every area. Inside the governing body, it sets expectations for itself and the organization, together with the boundaries for meeting them, and meets them (internal alignment). Inside the organization, leadership shows when the organization meets the expectations set. In the external context, it shows when the organization honours the expectations it has set for its setting, for example promises to stakeholders and to the natural environment. The expectations set shape the outcomes, and leadership decides whether they are achieved.
