Clause 6.7: Consumer issues – ISO 26000:2010

ISO 26000:2010 6.7.9: 6.7.9 Consumer issue 7: Education and awareness

Where appropriate, consumer education by an organization should cover: health and safety, including hazards from products; the laws and rules that apply, how to get redress, and the bodies that protect consumers; labelling of products and services and what manuals and instructions say; weights, measures, prices, quality, credit terms and whether essential services are available; the risks of use and the precautions needed; financial and investment products and services; protecting the environment; using materials, energy and water efficiently; consuming sustainably; and disposing properly of packaging, waste and products. Educating consumers does not pass the organization's own responsibility to them if they do not act on what they have been told.
