Metrics should support what the farm does to cut greenhouse gas emissions and remove GHGs from the atmosphere. As a minimum, total on-farm energy use is converted to its GHG equivalent in CO2e per hectare per month and per kilogram per month; further optional calculations cover the GHG equivalent of other energy quantities and of soil, biomass, carbon farming or the environmental footprint. The metrics relate to production sites, growing cycles, and GHG per kilogram of product and per hectare. In producer groups, the data may be held at QMS level, with results available at group and farm level.
