Part 264 Subparts I to FF: Unit-specific standards – EPA RCRA Hazardous Waste Management

EPA RCRA Hazardous Waste Management 264.194: § 264.194 General operating requirements

Hazardous wastes or treatment reagents must not be placed in a tank system if they could cause the tank, ancillary equipment or containment to rupture, leak, corrode or otherwise fail. The owner or operator must use controls and practices to prevent spills and overflows, at minimum spill prevention controls (check valves, dry disconnect couplings), overfill prevention controls (level sensors, high-level alarms, automatic feed cut-off or bypass to a standby tank) and sufficient freeboard in uncovered tanks against wave, wind or precipitation overtopping, and must follow 264.196 after any leak or spill.
