BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 9 5.4.5: 5.4.5 Batch verification, records and mass balance for claims depending on raw material status
Where a label or claim relies on a raw material's status, such as provenance, breed or variety, assured status, GMO status, identity preservation or a named trademarked ingredient, each batch's status must be verified. Purchasing, usage and packing records must support the claim, and documented mass balance tests must be carried out as often as the relevant scheme requires, and at least every 6 months.
