Part 2: Types of Employment and Classifications – Australia Plumbing and Fire Sprinklers Award 2020 (MA000036)

Australia Plumbing and Fire Sprinklers Award 2020 (MA000036) 9: Clause 9: daily hire employment restricted and notice of one day

Only employees in plumbing and mechanical services classifications may be daily hire; the clause does not apply to fire sprinkler fitting classifications or to apprentices. For daily hire employees, either side must give one day's notice to end employment, or one day's pay is paid or forfeited instead. Where notice is given no later than the usual starting time of an ordinary working day, it ends when that day's work is completed. A tradesperson must be given one hour before termination to collect, clean, sharpen, pack up and move their tools. Summary dismissal for misconduct or refusing duty remains available.
