A part-time employee averages fewer than 38 ordinary hours a week with reasonably predictable hours, and must receive at least 1/38th of the classification's weekly minimum for each ordinary hour plus pro rata entitlements. Before the part-time period begins, employer and employee must agree in writing that part-time work is permitted, the hours, the days they fall on and the start and finish times, the classification of the work, and how long the part-time arrangement lasts. Changes require written consent of both, and the employer must give the employee a copy of the agreement and of every variation.
