Standard 1: Clinical Governance – Australia National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards Second Edition

Australia National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards Second Edition 1.15-1.18: The organisation knows the diversity and higher-risk groups among its consumers and plans care accordingly, keeps healthcare records available at the point of care, accurate, secure, auditable and integrated, and works towards and governs contributions to the My Health Record system

Services must know who their consumers are, which groups face higher risk of harm, and plan and deliver care with that knowledge. Record systems must put the record in clinicians' hands where care happens, help staff keep it accurate and complete, meet privacy and security law, allow systematic audit and join up multiple systems. Organisations must move toward feeding the national My Health Record safely, with national identifiers and standard terminologies, and where they already do so must govern staff access lawfully and keep uploads accurate and complete.
