Part 5.1: General duties for plant and structures – Australia Model Work Health and Safety Regulations

Australia Model Work Health and Safety Regulations r210-212: rr 210 to 212 Operator controls, emergency stops and warning devices at the workplace

The person with management or control of plant ensures operator controls are identified, readily operable, protected from unintended activation and lockable off to disconnect motive power; where operation during maintenance or cleaning is unavoidable, controls allow operation only by the maintainer (or, where others must operate it, only by a person the controller authorises) and in a way that eliminates or minimises risk; multiple emergency stops on multi-operator plant are stop-and-lock-off; emergency stops are prominent, marked, accessible, red and not defeated by circuit faults; and warning devices are positioned to work best.
