Australia Model Work Health and Safety Regulations r196-197: rr 196 and 197 Importers of plant: obtain and pass on information; inspect, test and control hazards

An importer takes all reasonable steps to obtain the information a manufacturer and designer would have to provide and gives it to anyone it supplies; ensures the plant is inspected having regard to the manufacturer's information and tested where required; where hazards are identified, does not supply the plant until the risks are eliminated so far as reasonably practicable or, if not practicable, informs the recipient of the risks; and takes all reasonable steps to consult the designer and manufacturer about any alteration made to control risk.
