Part 5.1: General duties for plant and structures – Australia Model Work Health and Safety Regulations

Australia Model Work Health and Safety Regulations r187-188: rr 187 and 188 Designers of plant: information to the manufacturer and response to design hazards

A designer, when making a plant design available to the manufacturer, provides information enabling manufacture to the design specifications and, where applicable, about installation, commissioning, decommissioning, use, handling, storage and dismantling, the hazards and risks the designer identified, required testing or inspections, the systems of work and operator competency needed for safe use, and emergency procedures for malfunctions. If the manufacturer reports a design hazard with no control measure, the designer either revises the information so the risk is eliminated or minimised so far as reasonably practicable, or notifies the manufacturer in writing that no revision is necessary.
