Part 5.1: General duties for plant and structures – Australia Model Work Health and Safety Regulations

Australia Model Work Health and Safety Regulations r208-209: rr 208 and 209 Guarding of plant at the workplace, and guarding or insulation against heat and cold

Where guarding is used, the person with management or control of plant applies the same hierarchy as designers (permanently fixed barrier; interlocked barrier; tool-removable barrier; presence-sensing system that eliminates the risk), ensures the guarding is solid, securely mounted, hard to bypass or disable, not itself a risk and properly maintained, controls risks from broken or ejected parts, and is removable for maintenance and cleaning when not operating with restart prevented until replaced. Pipes and other plant parts associated with heat or cold are guarded or insulated so far as reasonably practicable.
