Section 2: Key elements of safe design – Australia Model Code of Practice: Safe Design of Structures

Australia Model Code of Practice: Safe Design of Structures 2.4b: 2.4 Include significant hazards and residual risks in the information the designer provides

Points to consider when providing information include notes on drawings, which are immediately available to construction workers, and information on significant hazards: hazardous substances or flammable materials in the design, heavy or awkward prefabricated elements that create handling risks, features that create access problems, temporary work needed to construct or renovate (for example bracing a steel or concrete frame), features essential to safe operation, methods of access where normal scaffold fixing is not available, parts of the design where risks are minimised rather than eliminated, and noise and vibration hazards from plant.
