Many people shape a design (clients, architects, project managers, interior designers) and each has responsibility for health and safety in design, so they must consult each other on hazards and risks and work together on solutions, so far as reasonably practicable (WHS Act s 46). That includes a client cooperating with a designer to change a design to address an identified risk. WHS Regulation 294 requires the person who commissions construction work to consult the designer about eliminating or minimising risks arising from the design during construction. Appendix B illustrates arrangements in different contractual models.
