Section 8 should describe the engineering controls suited to the intended use and say when special ones are needed (for example local exhaust ventilation, enclosed systems, spray booths, mechanical handling or explosive dust controls), complementing Section 7. PPE should be presented in line with the hierarchy of controls, used only where higher controls are impracticable or alongside them, and the SDS should still recommend those other controls; it should consider loss of PPE effectiveness and the chemical's effect on PPE materials. It should specify the type and properties of eye and face protection (safety glasses, goggles or face shield; impact or splash resistance), skin protection (gloves, boots, bodysuits and their material such as PVC or nitrile), respiratory protection matched to the hazard (for example a half-face respirator with an organic vapour filter rather than 'use respirator', citing a standard where suitable), and PPE for thermal hazards that does not add to heat load, noting any secondary risk.
The graph holds this control, the 0 it maps to, and the evidence behind each claim, over MCP and REST.
