Australia Model Code of Practice: Preparation of Safety Data Sheets for Hazardous Chemicals
Chapter 3, SDS sections 4 to 8: first aid, firefighting, accidental release, handling and storage, exposure controls – Australia Model Code of Practice: Preparation of Safety Data Sheets for Hazardous Chemicals

Australia Model Code of Practice: Preparation of Safety Data Sheets for Hazardous Chemicals s7: Section 7: state how the chemical can be used safely, practices to avoid, hygiene measures and storage conditions that address incompatibilities, ignition, environmental factors, stabilisers and storage design

What does s7 require?

Section 7 must say how the chemical may be used safely, and should give advice that allows safe handling (such as avoiding spills), prevents handling of incompatible chemicals together, minimises release outside the workplace, warns of practices to avoid, and sets general hygiene rules such as no eating, drinking or smoking in work areas, washing hands and removing contaminated clothing before eating. Storage advice should be consistent with Sections 9 and 10 and cover avoiding explosive atmospheres, corrosive or flammable conditions, incompatible materials, evaporation and ignition sources (electrical equipment among them); controlling the influence of weather, pressure, temperature, sunlight, humidity and vibration; how to keep the chemical stable with stabilisers, anti-oxidants or temperature control; and ventilation of stores, storage room and vessel design, quantity limits, packaging compatibility and warnings where water must not be used to fight a fire.
