Australia Model Code of Practice: Preparation of Safety Data Sheets for Hazardous Chemicals
Chapter 3, SDS sections 4 to 8: first aid, firefighting, accidental release, handling and storage, exposure controls – Australia Model Code of Practice: Preparation of Safety Data Sheets for Hazardous Chemicals

Australia Model Code of Practice: Preparation of Safety Data Sheets for Hazardous Chemicals s5: Section 5: name suitable and unsuitable extinguishing media, specific fire hazards and combustion products, firefighter precautions and PPE, and the Hazchem Code

What does s5 require?

Section 5 should describe which extinguishers or firefighting agents to use and which are unsuitable; specific hazards from the chemical's properties, such as explosive properties or toxic combustion products (for example carbon monoxide or oxides of sulphur and nitrogen); precautions during firefighting (such as cooling containers with water spray); and the PPE firefighters need, such as boots, overalls, gloves, breathing apparatus and eye and face protection. The Hazchem Code belongs here for emergency services, since it tells them the right firefighting medium, PPE, risk of violent reaction, spill action and whether to consider evacuation.
