Where reasonably practicable, EWPs or scaffolds should be used instead of a workbox or work platform. A workbox or work platform should be designed for the task and securely attached to the crane, hoist, forklift or other device and not suspended over people; there should be effective communication between the person in it and the operator, the operator should stay at the controls throughout, and lifting attachments and records should be checked by a competent person before use.
