Mast climbing work platforms, hoists with a work platform on an extendable mast that may need tying to the building, must be erected and dismantled by holders of a basic rigging or intermediate scaffolding high risk work licence, or enrolled trainees supervised by such a holder. They are generally unsuitable where the building profile changes with height, for example setbacks or protruding balconies. AS 2550.16 gives further detail.
