During underwriting the insurer requests only the health information it reasonably needs, whether from the applicant, a third party such as a doctor, or through an examination by a provider it chooses. Once the information in hand is enough to decide, the applicant learns the outcome within five business days of its receipt. Clauses 4.2 to 4.32 apply only to underwritten applications.
