Family history questions ask only about what the applicant knows, only about first-degree blood relatives without names or dates of birth, and only the illness and the relative's age at diagnosis or death. Information relatives gave about themselves in their own applications is not used against the applicant. Where the applicant has had a genetic test, the moratorium in Appendix A governs what may be asked about results and how they may be used.
