The employer must reimburse required special clothing not supplied (not ordinary shoes, hosiery, socks or black and white attire other than a dinner suit or evening dress outside a uniform) and, where the employee launders it, pay an agreed weekly laundry allowance or reimburse the cost; catering employers and motel employers must pay the specific laundry allowances in clause 26.6 of the current award (consolidated to 1 July 2026, read 30 September 2026). The employer may require a receipt for clothing supplied and deduct its value, allowing for fair wear and tear, if not returned on leaving, unless it was damaged, lost or stolen without the employee's fault.
