The employer must pay a casual employee a loading of 25% on the ordinary hourly rate for each hour. A casual must be engaged for no more than 12 hours a day or shift and 38 hours a week (or the average over a roster cycle of no more than 4 weeks), with overtime at the clause 28.4 rates beyond those limits, and must be engaged and paid for at least 2 consecutive hours each time they attend. Casuals are paid at the end of each engagement unless weekly or fortnightly pay is agreed. The NES casual conversion pathway applies (ss 66A to 66MA).
