A part-time employee works at least 8 and fewer than 38 ordinary hours a week (or on average over the roster cycle) with reasonably predictable hours, and is entitled pro rata to full-time pay and conditions. At engagement the employer must agree in writing the hours guaranteed to be provided and paid each week or roster cycle (the guaranteed hours) and the days and hours the employee is available to work them (the availability). Guaranteed hours change only with the employee's written consent. The employer may roster guaranteed and additional hours under clauses 15.2 and 15.5, but never outside the employee's availability, and the employee must have 2 days off each week. A pre-1 January 2018 written pattern of work may continue.
