Australia Health Insurance (Accredited Pathology Laboratories, Approval) Amendment (Relevant Standards) Principles (No. 3) 2026
Schedule 1 Part 1, items 1 to 8: the approval machinery – Australia Health Insurance (Accredited Pathology Laboratories, Approval) Amendment (Relevant Standards) Principles (No. 3) 2026

Australia Health Insurance (Accredited Pathology Laboratories, Approval) Amendment (Relevant Standards) Principles (No. 3) 2026 part1-objects: Purpose and objects: the approval list

What does part1-objects require?

Item 1 omits the words "in principle" from paragraph 6(1)(a) of the 2017 Principles. That paragraph is the first item in the list of powers to which the Principles apply: the power to approve premises as an accredited pathology laboratory. Removing the phrase takes the in-principle approval out of the list. The other paragraphs of subsection 6(1), which deal with refusing an approval and with varying or revoking an approval, are unchanged. The item is consequential to the repeal of the pathology fees and the streamlining of the application process described in the Explanatory Statement.
