Schedule 1 Part 1, items 1 to 8: the approval machinery – Australia Health Insurance (Accredited Pathology Laboratories, Approval) Amendment (Relevant Standards) Principles (No. 3) 2026

Australia Health Insurance (Accredited Pathology Laboratories, Approval) Amendment (Relevant Standards) Principles (No. 3) 2026 part1-interim-trigger: Interim approval: the trigger

What does part1-interim-trigger require?

Item 7 omits "an approval in principle or" from subsection 12(2). Section 12 allows the Minister to consider an application without an assessment report where no independent body or special adviser has provided one, if subsection 12(2) applies and an advisory report is provided. Subsection 12(2) applies where the application is made in relation to a kind of service, or a category, that is not subject to an approval held by the applicant for those premises at the time of the application. The amendment removes the in-principle alternative from that description.
