Australia Health Insurance (Accredited Pathology Laboratories, Approval) Amendment (Relevant Standards) Principles (No. 3) 2026 part1-interim-conditions: Interim approval: the conditions

What does part1-interim-conditions require?

Item 8 omits "in principle" from subsection 12(3). The subsection says that, absent exceptional circumstances, the Minister must approve an application that relies on section 12 if it is supported by a report from an independent body stating five things: that a representative visited the premises; that the body confirms there is an appropriately equipped laboratory; that the body is satisfied with high confidence that the premises can be expected to meet the relevant standards for a six-month period and will be appropriately staffed, including the persons who direct, control and supervise; that the laboratory is or will be participating in an independent quality assurance program; and the kinds of service and the category. The amendment removes the in-principle reference from the approval.
