Australia Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 31A: Staff training: an initial course of disability awareness training and annual refresher training for staff, tailored to each role, developed and reviewed in consultation with people with disability or their representative organisations, and delivered by a qualified trainer

What does 31A require?

An operator or provider must give staff training to prevent disability discrimination in the provision of public transport services: an initial course of disability awareness training and refresher training every year. The training must be tailored to the roles and responsibilities of each staff member, developed and reviewed in consultation with persons with disabilities or groups representing them so the content is appropriate, and delivered by a qualified trainer. Part 31A applies to all operators and providers after the end of the 5-year transitional period.
