For permanently connected sets, walked-on surfaces above exposed live parts must have no openings and must have kickboards of at least 0.15 m and handrails at all edges, and exposed live parts outdoors must be surrounded by security walls or fences of 2.5 m height or more with danger notices as for outdoor substations (AS 1319).
