An employer must not let an employee enter a confined space unless it has issued an entry permit for that entry. Each permit covers only one confined space but may authorise one or more employees. It must list the space, the risk control measures, the name of each employee permitted to enter, the name of any person assigned a function under regulation 65 (communication and emergency initiation), and the period the permit operates (s 21).
