Where an employee's removal from lead-risk work was triggered by a blood lead result or a control failure indication (paragraph (a) or (c) of r 199(1A), or of the earlier r 199(1)), the employer must provide for a registered medical practitioner to examine them within 7 days after removal. If an employee removed because of a control failure is found on examination to have a blood lead level under the relevant removal level in r 199(1A)(a), and the doctor agrees, the employer may let them return to lead-risk work. The duty supports section 22(1) of the Act.
