Before an employee first starts lead-risk work, the employer must arrange both a medical examination and biological monitoring for them. It must then arrange a further blood lead test no later than one month from the date the employee begins lead-risk work. These examination and monitoring duties also cover independent contractors. The terms have the meaning in r 181. The duties support sections 22(1) and 23 of the Act.
