A person may ask an authorised assessor to assess the person's competency to safely carry out particular high risk work to the relevant competency standard. After assessing, the assessor is obliged to issue the applicant with a notice of assessment. If satisfied that the applicant has shown under workplace conditions that the criteria for every element of competency in the standard can be met, the notice states that opinion (a notice of assessment (satisfactory)). If not satisfied, the notice must state that opinion and the reasons for it. Every notice must follow the form and manner the Authority requires, and the assessor must hear the applicant if the applicant wishes to be heard about an unsatisfactory outcome.
