Victoria Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 s29-1-a: s 29(1)(a) Manufacturers: manufacture plant or substances to be safe

Where a manufacturer of plant or a substance is aware, or should reasonably be aware, that the product will be used in a workplace, the manufacturer must ensure as far as reasonably practicable that it is made safe and free of health risks for any use it was manufactured for. Maximum penalty: 1800 penalty units (individual) or 9000 penalty units (body corporate). The offence is indictable (s 29(2)), though it may be heard summarily.
