US Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 USC 2301-2312) 2310c: Section 2310(c) No deceptive warranty

A warrantor does not make a deceptive warranty: one containing a false, fraudulent or misleading affirmation, promise, description or representation, one omitting information needed to stop it misleading a reasonable consumer, or one called a 'guaranty' or 'warranty' whose terms so limit its scope as to deceive. The FTC or the Attorney General may seek an injunction; the FTC treats void-if-unauthorised-service clauses as deceptive as well as tying (700.10(c)).
