Uganda Occupational Safety and Health Act 2006
Parts XII and XIII: Hazardous materials and chemical safety (sections 83 to 98) – Uganda Occupational Safety and Health Act 2006

Uganda Occupational Safety and Health Act 2006 85-86: Toxic materials and drenching facilities: toxic materials used only where non-toxic alternatives are not reasonably practicable, exposed numbers minimised and antidotes kept where recognised, work with toxic materials only under an efficient exhaust draught that prevents dangerous escape, no eating, drinking or smoking where ingestion is a risk, washing facilities near the point of use, and on the Commissioner's notice additional bathing facilities, periodic medical examinations and protective clothing; where dangerous or corrosive liquids are used, readily accessible means of drenching with water and clearly signed eye-flushing facilities

What does 85-86 require?

Toxic materials or substances are used only where a non-toxic alternative is not reasonably practicable; wherever they are present or in use, as few workers as possible are exposed and stocks of any recognised antidote are kept at hand; all work on or with toxic materials happens under an efficient exhaust draught, built, placed and maintained so that the materials cannot escape into the air to a dangerous degree; where ingestion is a risk nobody eats, drinks or smokes in any workroom or place where the material is handled; washing facilities are provided and maintained conveniently near the place of use where body contamination is a risk; and on notice from the Commissioner the occupier or employer adds bathing facilities, showers included where practicable, periodic medical examinations and additional protective clothing. Wherever dangerous or corrosive liquids are in use, adequate water-drenching facilities within easy reach for anyone splashed, and enough suitable eye-flushing or irrigation points, conveniently placed and marked by a distinctive sign visible at all times, are provided and maintained for emergencies.
