Uganda Occupational Safety and Health Act 2006
Parts III to VI: General duties of employers, the self-employed, controllers of premises, manufacturers and suppliers, and workers (sections 13 to 39) – Uganda Occupational Safety and Health Act 2006

Uganda Occupational Safety and Health Act 2006 15-16: Safety representatives and committees: consult safety representatives in making and sustaining arrangements for employer-worker cooperation on safety and health; on request of the representatives establish a safety committee, under regulations, for a workplace with at least twenty workers, on which the representatives sit and which reviews the measures taken

What does 15-16 require?

Every employer consults the safety representatives, appointed in the cases the Minister prescribes by regulation, in creating and maintaining arrangements under which employer and workers work together effectively on measures for employees' safety and health. When safety representatives request it, the employer sets up a safety committee under the regulations at any workplace of twenty or more workers; the representatives sit for the employees on the committee, which reviews the measures taken for employees' safety and health and does whatever else is prescribed. Within six months of occupying a registered workplace the Commissioner serves notice requiring a safety committee where one applies (section 41(2)).
