Parts 12 to 28: Excavations, confined spaces, bins, access, construction structures, stairs and ladders, fire protection, explosives, demolition and powder-actuated tools – Prince Edward Island Occupational Health and Safety Act General Regulations

Prince Edward Island Occupational Health and Safety Act General Regulations P25: Fire protection: ABC extinguishers in workshops, combustible storage and the other listed places, dry chemical extinguishers where flammable liquids are handled, freeze protection, protected and marked extinguisher stations, progressive standpipes, no volatile fire starters, in addition to the Fire Prevention Act

What does P25 require?

One or more approved 4.5 kg ABC multipurpose extinguishers are provided in every workshop, every storage building for combustible material and the other locations section 25.1 lists, and dry chemical extinguishers of at least 2.2 kg where flammable liquids are kept or handled and elsewhere as section 25.2 requires. Extinguishing equipment that might freeze is protected, extinguishers are protected from mechanical injury, located for easy access at marked stations and maintained, permanent standpipes are installed progressively as construction proceeds and kept ready, nobody starts fires with gasoline or other highly volatile material, and the Part adds to rather than replaces the Fire Prevention Act requirements.
