Signatories keep the content, distribution, marketing and advertising of covered games compliant at all times with present and future EU and national law; the Code yields where following it would breach a national mandatory rating and labelling scheme. The Code supplements existing law and was written with regard to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and to parents' and guardians' role in guiding children as their capacities develop.
