NFPA 70 National Electrical Code 2023 Article 700 Emergency Systems 700.6: 700.6 Signals

Where applicable the system must give audible and visual alarms, repeated elsewhere on site or over a network, to show a malfunction of the emergency source, that it is carrying load, a charging fault on a battery needed for source readiness (including engine starting), and a ground fault on a solidly grounded wye system above 150 V to ground with devices of 1000 A or more, sensed at or ahead of the source main disconnect and set no higher than 1200 A, with instructions for responding posted at the sensor; paralleled sources may sense at an alternative location (2026: 700.7).
